Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 cups all purpose flour 1/2 cup whole wheat flour 1 tbsp. sugar 4 tsp. baking powder 1 cup milk 1 cup buttermilk 2/3 cup vegetable oil plus additional 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 2 large eggs
Directions
Sift together all purpose and whole wheat flours, sugar and baking powder in a large bowl. Whisk together milk, buttermilk, oil, vanilla and eggs in a medium bowl until well combined. Whisk milk mixture into dry ingredients until combined.
Preheat a Belgian double waffle maker. Brush with vegetable oil. Spoon 1 cup batter into waffle maker. Cook about 5 minutes until waffles are golden. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve waffles hot with preserves or syrup.
Makes about 8 Belgian waffles.
