Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
3 large eggs 1 cup milk 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1 1/2 tsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 3 tbsp. butter 8 thick slices challah or home style bread 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
Directions
Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar and salt in a pie plate until sugar is dissolved. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip the bread slices into the egg mixture to coat. Add 4 of the bread slices to the skillet. Sprinkle the chocolate over the bread. Place the remaining 4 slices bread over the chocolate. Press lightly to adhere. Cook about 5 minutes per side until the toast is golden brown and cooked through. Serve immediately.
Serves 4.
