Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Topping: 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 cup slivered almonds 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 cup cold butter, diced
Filling: 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. all purpose flour pinch salt 3 pounds pears, peeled, cored and chopped 2 tbsp. pear brandy
Directions
For Topping: Combine flour, almonds, brown sugar and salt in a food processor. Pulse to blend. Add butter and pulse until combined. Transfer the topping mixture to a medium bowl. Refrigerate topping at least 1 hour.
For Filling: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter the inside of a 13x9 inch baking dish. Stir together both sugars, flour and salt in a large bowl. Add pears and brandy and toss well to coat. Transfer the filling to the prepared dish. Sprinkle topping evenly over filling. Bake crisp about 30 to 40 minutes until filling is bubbly and topping is golden brown. Transfer crisp to a rack and cool slightly before serving.
Serves 6 to 8.
