Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Topping: 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 1/4 cups old fashioned oats 1 1/4 cups brown sugar 1 1/4 cups chopped walnuts, lightly toasted 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 3/4 tsp. salt 3/4 cup butter, diced
Filling: 4 1/2 pounds Granny Smith or Gala apples, peeled, cored and thickly sliced 3 tbsp. lemon juice 4 1/2 tbsp. sugar 2 tbsp. all purpose flour
Directions
For Topping: Stir together flour, oats, brown sugar, walnuts, cinnamon and salt in a medium bowl. Rub in butter with your fingers until small clumps form.
For Filling: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Butter a 13x9 inch baking dish. Combine apple slices, lemon juice, sugar and flour in a large bowl. Toss to coat. Spread the apples evenly in the prepared dish. Crumble the topping evenly over the apples. Bake about 45 minutes until apples are tender and topping is golden. Cool crisp slightly before serving.
Serves 6 to 8.
