Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. ground cloves 1 1/4 cups toasted chopped walnuts 1 cup butter, room temperature 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, divided 1 large egg yolk 5 tsp. brandy 2 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Sift together flour and baking powder into a large bowl. Stir in salt and cloves. Transfer 2 tbsp. flour mixture to a food processor. Add walnuts and process until finely chopped. Beat butter in a large bowl until fluffy. Add 1 cup sugar and beat to blend. Beat in yolk, vanilla and brandy. Beat in flour mixture and walnuts. Shape tablespoonfuls of dough into balls. Place 1 inch apart on prepared pans. Bake cookies 12 minutes. Turn pans and bake an additional 12 minutes until cookies are brown on bottom and cracked on top. Sift remaining powdered sugar over cookies. Cool on pans.
Makes about 3 to 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
