Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 tbsp. vegetable oil 2 medium onions, peeled and chopped 1 1/2 tsp. dried oregano 1 1/2 tsp. ground cumin 1 1/2 pounds shredded cooked turkey 3 tbsp. chili powder or to taste 2 bay leaves 1 1/2 tsp. salt 28 ounce can chopped tomatoes with juices 3 cups chicken broth 8 ounce can tomato sauce three 15 ounce cans great northern beans, drained and rinsed chopped red onion chopped fresh cilantro sour cream or plain yogurt
Directions
Heat oil in a large pot. Add onions and cook until tender and lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Add oregano and cumin and cook, stirring, 1 minute. Stir in turkey, chili powder, bay leaves, salt, tomatoes with juices, broth and tomato sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add beans and simmer 10 minutes. Discard bay leaves. Divide chili between bowls and garnish with red onion, cilantro and dollops of sour cream or yogurt.
Serves 6 to 8.
