Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef 1 cup soft, fresh bread crumbs 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped 8 ounce can tomato sauce, divided 1 large egg 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 3/4 cup water 2 tbsp. brown sugar 2 tbsp. yellow prepared mustard 1 tbsp. white vinegar
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a loaf pan. Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, half the tomato sauce, egg, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Stir to blend. Transfer beef mixture to the prepared pan and shape into a loaf. Stir together remaining tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, mustard and vinegar in a small bowl. Pour brown sugar mixture over meat loaf. Bake about 75 minutes, basting occasionally with pan juices.
Let meat loaf stand 5 minutes. Pour off grease and remove meat loaf from pan. Slice and serve.
Serves 4 to 6.
