Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 pound ground beef 1 cup chopped green bell pepper 14 1/2 ounce can diced tomatoes with juices 8 ounce can tomato sauce 1/2 cup tomato paste 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. celery salt 1 tsp. onion powder 1/2 tsp. paprika 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper 1 large bay leaf 8 hamburger buns, split and toasted
Directions
Combine ground beef and bell pepper in a deep skillet. Cook over medium heat until beef is browned, stirring occasionally. Drain fat from pan. Stir in tomatoes with juices, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire, sugar, celery salt, onion powder, paprika, cayenne and bay leaf and heat to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 30 minutes. Uncover and simmer an additional 30 to 40 minutes until thickened. Discard bay leaf. Spoon Sloppy Joes over toasted buns and serve.
Serves 8.
