Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 pounds round steak, about 1/2 inch thick 1 pound ground sausage 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped 1 cup chopped green bell pepper 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 2 large eggs 1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp. milk 1 can cream of mushroom soup
Directions
Cut round steak into 4 pieces. Cut a pocket into the side of each piece of steak. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage, onion and bell pepper. Cook until browned, stirring frequently. Drain fat from skillet, reserve skillet. Stuff mixture into pockets of the round steak pieces. Place flour in a shallow pie plate. Whisk together eggs with 2 tbsp. milk in a medium bowl. Heat reserved skillet over medium heat. Dredge stuffed round steak in flour then dip in egg mixture to coat. Add coated stuffed steaks to skillet and brown on all sides. Transfer stuffed steaks to a medium baking dish. Stir together remaining 1/2 cup milk and mushroom soup in a medium bowl. Pour soup mixture over stuffed steaks. Bake round steaks 45 minutes. Spoon pan juices over and serve.
Serves 4.
