Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
French Toast: 3 tbsp. finely grated orange peel 2 cups orange juice 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract 2 tbsp. triple sec liqueur 6 large eggs 1/2 cup half and half eight 1 inch thick slices Italian or French Bread 3 tbsp. melted butter
Sauce: 3 tbsp. butter 2 tbsp. sweet orange marmalade 1 tbsp. triple sec liqueur
Directions
For French Toast: Whisk together orange peel, orange juice, sugar, vanilla, triple sec, eggs and half and half in a large bowl. Place the bread slices in a single layer in a 13x9 inch baking dish. Pour the orange mixture over the bread. Turn bread slices over to coat. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter a large sheet pan. Place soaked bread slices in a single layer on the prepared pan, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake 10 minutes. Turn bread over and bake an additional 10 minutes until bread is puffed and golden.
For Sauce: Combine butter, marmalade and triple sec in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until butter is melted.
Divide the French toast between plates. Drizzle sauce over toast and serve.
Serves 4.
