Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Sauce: 1/2 cup honey 1/4 cup hot pepper sauce 7 ounce can chipotle chilies in adobo, pureed 1/4 cup soy sauce 1/3 cup pineapple juice 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
Chicken Wings: 3 pounds skin-on, bone-in chicken wings 2 cups all purpose flour 2 tbsp. ground cumin 2 tsp. cayenne pepper 2 tsp. black pepper 2 tsp. garlic powder 2 to 4 cups oil for frying
Directions
For Sauce: Combine honey, pepper sauce, chipotle puree, soy sauce, pineapple juice and red wine vinegar in a medium saucepan. Cook about 10 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until syrupy. Remove pan from heat and keep warm.
For Chicken Wings: Stir together flour, cumin, cayenne, black pepper and garlic powder in a medium bowl. Add chicken wings and toss to lightly coat. Heat oil to 325 degrees in a large pot. Add coated chicken wings in batches, cooking about 10 to 15 minutes until golden and cooked through. Drain wings on paper towels. Add wings to sauce and stir to coat. Serve hot or warm.
Serves 4 to 6.
