2/3 cup plus 2 tsp. sugar 2 tbsp. all purpose flour 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/8 tsp. ground cloves 8 medium pears, cored, quartered and thinly sliced 1 tsp. lemon juice 2 frozen, thawed 9 inch pie shells 1 tbsp. heavy or whipping cream
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Stir together 2/3 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves in a large bowl. Add pear slices and lemon juice. Toss well to coat pears. Mound the pear mixture in one of the pie shells. Roll out remaining pie shell slightly on a floured surface. Place on top of the pie, trim overhang and pinch edges to seal. Cut several slits in the top pie crust. Brush the cream over the crust and sprinkle with remaining 2 tsp. sugar. Bake about 1 hour until crust is golden and pears are tender. Transfer pie to a rack and cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.
