Cookies: 1 cup butter, softened 1 cup sugar 3 large egg yolks 1/2 cup sour cream 1 tsp. vanilla extract 3 cups all purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt
Glaze: 3 tbsp. margarine, melted 2 cups sifted powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 to 3 tbsp. milk
Directions
For Cookies: Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add yolks and beat until fluffy. Stir in sour cream and vanilla. Sift together flour and baking soda. Stir in salt. Gradually add flour mixture to batter and mix just until combined. Gather dough into a ball and flatten into a disc. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate 1 hour until firm enough to roll. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into shapes with floured cookie cutters. Place cookies on ungreased sheet pans. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until cookies are lightly browned. Cool cookies 1 minute on pan. Transfer cookies to racks and cool completely.
For Glaze: Stir together margarine, sugar, vanilla and milk until a smooth icing forms. Dip tops of cookies into icing to coat. Transfer cookies to racks and let stand until glaze dries.
Makes about 2 to 3 dozen cookies.
