Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 1/2 to 2 pounds round steak 2 tbsp. vegetable oil 1/4 cup soy sauce 1 cup chopped onion 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced 1 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/4 tsp. ground ginger 16 ounce can chopped tomatoes with juices 2 large green bell peppers, stemmed, seeded and cut into strips 1/2 cup cold water 1 tbsp. cornstarch hot cooked noodles or rice
Directions
Cut round steak into 3 inch long strips Heat oil in a large skillet. Add beef strips and brown on all sides. Transfer beef to a crock pot. Stir together soy sauce, onion, garlic, sugar, salt, pepper and ginger in a small bowl and pour over beef. Cover and cook 5 to 6 hours on Low until beef is tender. Stir in tomatoes with juices and green bell pepper strips. Cover and cook 1 hour on Low. Stir together the water and cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth. Stir into beef and increase heat to High. Cook until thickened. Serve hot over noodles or rice.
Serves 6 to 8.
