Ingredients   (view qty in metric system instead)
3 tbsp. vegetable oil, divided
2 medium onions, peeled and thinly sliced
2 tbsp. white wine vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 bratwurst or knockwurst

Directions
Heat 2 1/2 tbsp. of the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook about 15 minutes until very tender, stirring frequently. Cook an additional 5 minutes until lightly browned. Stir in the vinegar, salt and pepper. Heat the remaining 1/2 tbsp. oil in a medium skillet over medium high heat. Cut the bratwurst lengthwise almost all the way through. Add the bratwurst to the skillet and cook about 3 to 5 minutes until cooked through and lightly browned, pressing flat with a spatula. Divide the bratwurst between 2 plates, spoon the onions over and serve immediately.

Serves 2.
