Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Sauce: 2 tbsp. butter 2 medium onions, peeled, halved and thinly sliced 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar 1 cup beef broth 1 cup chicken broth
Steak: 2 tbsp. olive oil four 12 ounce sirloin steaks 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 2 tbsp. bourbon 2 tbsp. butter
Directions
For Sauce: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions and cook until tender and golden, about 12 minutes. Add vinegar and heat to a boil. Boil until reduced by half, about 1 minute. Add both broths and boil about 10 minutes until slightly thickened. Reserve sauce while preparing steaks.
For Steaks: Heat oil in a large skillet. Season steaks with salt and pepper. Add to skillet and cook about 4 1/2 minutes per side for medium-rare. Transfer steaks to a plate and tent with foil. Carefully add bourbon to skillet and boil until almost evaporated. Add reserved sauce to skillet and heat to a boil. Remove from heat and whisk in butter until melted. Plate steaks and serve sauce over.
Serves 4.
