Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
6 frozen, thawed sausage patties 6 slices thick cut French bread 6 slices Provolone cheese 3 large eggs, beaten to blend 3/4 cup milk 1 3/4 tsp. sugar vegetable oil
Directions
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place sausage patties on a sheet pan. Bake about 10 minutes until sausage is well browned, turning several times during cooking. Drain fat from sausages and cut each patty in half. Cut a horizontal pocket in each French bread slice, cutting to within 1/4 inch of the opposite edge. Fill each pocket with 2 sausage patty halves and 1 slice Provolone. Whisk together eggs, milk and sugar in a medium bowl until well blended. Dip each stuffed bread slice into the egg mixture to coat, letting excess drip off. Lightly oil a griddle or large skillet and heat over medium heat. Place stuffed bread slices onto the griddle or skillet and cook about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes per side until bread is browned and cheese is melted. Serve French toast immediately.
Serves 6.
