Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 large egg 1 tbsp. all purpose flour 3 tbsp. saltine or Ritz cracker crumbs 6 ounce can water packed tuna, drained vegetable oil 2 hamburger buns, split and toasted tartar sauce or mayonnaise lettuce leaves tomato slices
Directions
Line a plate with a square of wax paper. Whisk together egg and flour in a medium bowl. Stir in cracker crumbs. Fold in tuna until well mixed. Form the tuna mixture into 2 patties. Place the patties onto the prepared plate and refrigerate. Add oil to a large skillet to a depth of 1/4 inch. Heat oil to about 350 degrees over medium high heat. Add tuna patties and fry about 3 to 5 minutes per side until lightly browned and heated through. Place the cooked tuna burgers onto the bottom bun halves. Top with tartar sauce or mayonnaise, lettuce leaves and tomato slices. Place top bun halves over and serve.
Makes 2 tuna burgers.
