Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Cake: 18.25 ounce package yellow cake mix 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
Icing: 3/4 cup chocolate syrup 8 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate 2 cups creamy peanut butter 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted 1/4 cup milk 2 cups chopped peanuts
Directions
For Cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour the inside of two 9 inch round cake pans. Prepare cake mix according to the package directions. Beat in 1/2 cup peanut butter. Divide the batter between the prepared pans. Bake cakes about 20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool 10 minutes in the pans. Turn the cakes out onto a rack and cool completely.
For Icing: Combine the chocolate syrup and semisweet chocolate in a small saucepan over very low heat. Cook, stirring, until the chocolate is melted and smooth. Transfer the chocolate mixture to a large bowl and stir in peanut butter, powdered sugar and milk. Stir until smooth.
Place 1 cake on a plate and spread the top with 1 1/2 cups of the icing. Top with the remaining cake. Frost the top and sides with the remaining icing. Press the peanuts into the sides of the cake. Slice cake with a warm knife and serve.
Serves 8 to 12.
