Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 loaf lightly stale bread, broken into pieces 1 cup butter 2 stalks celery, chopped 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped 1 large egg 1 3/4 cups milk 1/ tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease the inside of a large baking dish. Place the bread pieces in a large bowl. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the celery and onion and cook about 8 to 10 minutes until tender, stirring occasionally. Pour the vegetables over the bread and stir to combine. Whisk together the egg and milk and add to the bread along with the salt and pepper. Stir until well combined. With your hands or an ice cream scoop, form the stuffing mixture into large meatball sized balls. Arrange the stuffing balls in the prepared dish. Bake about 1 hour until heated through.
Makes about 2 dozen stuffing balls.
