Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
6 tbsp. coffee liqueur 3 tbsp. sugar, divided 1 tbsp. water 2 tsp. instant espresso or coffee powder 1/2 cup cream cheese, whipped until fluffy 2 tbsp. heavy or whipping cream eight to ten 1/2 inch thick slices purchased pound cake 1 1/2 tbsp. cocoa powder
Directions
Combine liqueur, 1 tbsp. sugar, water and espresso or coffee powder in a small bowl. Stir until coffee granules dissolve. Whisk together whipped cream cheese, cream, 1 tbsp. kahlua mixture, and remaining 2 tbsp. sugar in another small bowl. Line the bottom of an 8x8 inch glass baking dish with half of cake slices. Soak cake slices well with half of kahlua mixture. Spread cream cheese mixture over cake slices. Top with remaining cake slices and press down lightly. Soak cake with remaining kahlua mixture. Sift cocoa powder over. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate up to 24 hours.
Variations: Add 1 to 2 tbsp. chopped candied cherries to filling. Add 1 to 2 tbsp. chopped semisweet chocolate or mini chocolate chips to filling.
Serves 2 to 4.
