Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
8 ounces beef cube steak 1/4 tsp. garlic salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1 tbsp. vegetable oil 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped 1 stalk celery, chopped 4 cups plus 1/2 cup water 10 ounce package frozen mixed vegetables 1 tbsp. beef bouillon granules 1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce 1 tsp. crumbled dried basil 7 1/2 ounce can chopped tomatoes 1/3 cup all purpose flour
Directions
Season meat with garlic salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large saucepan. Add steak and brown on both sides. Remove steak from pan and cut into cubes. Add onion and celery to pan and cook about 6 minutes until tender. Stir in meat, 4 cups water, mixed vegetables, bouillon, worcestershire and basil. Heat to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer about 5 minutes until vegetables are crisp-tender. Stir in tomatoes with juices. Stir together 1/2 cup water and flour in a small bowl until smooth. Stir into soup. Cook, stirring, until soup thickens and boils. Continue cooking 1 minute.
Serves 4 to 6.
