Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
3/4 cup all purpose flour 1/3 cup sugar 1/4 cup cornstarch 1/4 tsp. chopped dried aniseed 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled 4 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Stir together flour, sugar, cornstarch and aniseed in a medium bowl. Pour melted butter over dry ingredients and stir until well combined. Press dough evenly into the bottom of a 9 inch pie plate. Bake about 30 minutes until golden brown, poking with a toothpick if dough puffs up. Cut shortbread into 8 wedges while hot. Transfer to a rack and cool completely. Place semisweet chocolate in a small microwave safe bowl. Cover and microwave 60 seconds. Uncover and stir chocolate. Microwave an additional minute if necessary to melt chocolate. Stir chocolate until smooth. Drizzle melted chocolate over cooled shortbread. Let stand until chocolate is set.
Makes 8 shortbread wedges.
