Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
frozen french fries 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1/2 cup flat English Ale or beer 1 tbsp. malt vinegar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper vegetable oil for frying 12 ounce cod fillet cut into 8 strips
Directions
Prepare french fries according to package directions. Whisk together flour, ale or beer, malt vinegar and baking soda in a medium bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Add oil to a medium skillet to 1/2 inch deep. Heat to 350 degrees. Pat fish dry. Dip fish strips into batter, letting excess drain off. Fry fish until golden brown and cooked through, about 3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with french fries.
Serves 2.
