Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
3 1/2 pounds boneless country-style pork ribs, cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 3 tbsp. vegetable oil 2 tbsp. garlic, chopped 4 green onions, chopped 2 tbsp. peeled, minced fresh ginger 2 1/4 cups chicken broth 1/3 cup soy sauce 1 tbsp. dark brown sugar 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes 1/4 tsp. 5 spice powder 1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch
Directions
Season pork with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add pork and brown on all sides, working in batches. Transfer pork to a large bowl. Add garlic, green onions and ginger to pot and cook 1 minute. Return pork with juices to pot. Add 1 1/2 cups broth, soy sauce, sugar, red pepper flakes and 5 spice powder. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until pork is tender, about 60 to 75 minutes. Stir together remaining 3/4 cup broth and cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth. Stir cornstarch mixture into pork. Simmer, stirring occasionally, about 3 minutes until sauce is thickened.
Serves 6 to 8.
