Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
3 cups water 3 tbsp. fresh lemon juice 4 firm, ripe pears, peeled, stems left on 1 cup dry red wine 1 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 1 cinnamon stick+ 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon peel of 1/2 of a lemon
Directions
Combine 3 cups water and lemon juice in a large bowl. Add pears. Mix wine, 1 cup water, sugar, stick and ground cinnamon and lemon peel in a 2 quart baking dish. Microwave on high 5 minutes. Add pears, turning to coat. Cover bowl with waxed paper and microwave on on high until pears are tender, turning occasionally. Let stand until cool. Serve cold or at room temp.
Serves 4.
