Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Filling: 3 pounds pears, peeled, cored and sliced 1 tsp. lemon juice 1 tsp. peeled, minced fresh ginger 3/4 cup sugar 2 1/2 tbsp. all purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt pinch ground allspice pinch ground cinnamon
Topping: 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1/3 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup cold butter, diced
Directions
For Filling: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Butter a 2 1/2 quart shallow baking dish. Toss together pears, lemon juice and ginger in a large bowl. Stir together flour, salt, allspice and cinnamon in a small bowl. Add to pear mixture and toss to blend. Spread filling evenly in the prepared dish.
For Topping: Combine oats, flour, brown sugar and butter in a food processor. Blend until coarse crumbs form.
Sprinkle topping evenly over filling. Bake 35 to 40 minutes until topping is golden. Transfer to a rack and cool 20 to 30 minutes before serving.
Serves 6.
