Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
4 pounds beef round steak, cut into 1 inch cubes 4 cups sliced carrots 2 cups sliced celery 4 medium onions, peeled and sliced two 5 ounce cans water chestnuts, drained and sliced two 6 ounce cans sliced mushrooms, drained 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp. all purpose flour 2 tbsp. sugar 2 tbsp. salt two 16 ounce cans chopped tomatoes 2 cups burgundy wine or beef broth
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix meat, carrots, celery, onions, water chestnuts and mushrooms in a large roasting pan. Mix together flour, sugar and salt in a small bowl. Stir into meat mixture. Stir in tomatoes and wine or broth. Cover and bake 4 hours until meat is tender.
Serves 10 to 12.
