Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Pasta: 1 1/2 pound sweet Italian sausage links 1 1/3 cup green bell pepper, cut into strips 2 tbsp. olive oil 3/4 pounds ziti pasta, cooked and drained grated parmesan cheese
Marinara Sauce: 28 ounce can Italian-style or plum tomatoes with juices 10 3/4 ounce can tomato puree 1 tsp. minced garlic 4 tbsp. olive oil 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions
For Pasta: Fry the sausage links in a large skillet until cooked through. Drain and cool. Halve the links lengthwise and slice 1/2 inch thick. Add oil to the skillet and heat. Add bell peppers and cook until crisp-tender, about 3 to 5 minutes.
For Sauce: Combine tomatoes with juices, tomato puree, garlic, oil and basil in a large saucepan. Heat to a simmer. Add bell pepper and sliced sausage and simmer 5 minutes.
Portion the pasta onto 4 plates and top with sauce. Garnish with parmesan and serve immediately.
Serves 4.
