Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1/3 cup water 1/3 cup bourbon 1/3 cup golden raisins 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 1/2 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks 1/3 cup sugar 2 cups soft, fresh breadcrumbs 6 tbsp. melted butter 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Directions
Combine water, bourbon, raisins and vanilla in a small saucepan and heat to a boil. Remove the pan from te heat. Cover and let stand 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly coat the inside of an 8 inch square baking dish. Pour the raisin mixture into a large bowl. Add apples and sugar and toss to combine. Stir together breadcrumbs, butter, brown sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Spoon half of the apples into the prepared dish. Sprinkle with half of the breadcrumb mixture. Spoon remaining apples over and sprinkle with remaining breadcrumbs. Bake about 55 to 60 minutes until apples are tender. Transfer the Betty to a rack and let cool 15 minutes. Spoon into bowls and serve warm.
Serves 6.
