Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
4 to 4 1/2 cups unbleached all purpose flour, sifted 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. salt 1 large egg, beaten to blend 1 tbsp. white vinegar 1/2 cup iced water 1 3/4 cups solid vegetable shortening
Directions
Stir together flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Stir together the egg, vinegar and water in a small bowl. Cut shortening into flour until coarse crumbs form. Sprinkle egg mixture over and stir with a fork until dough comes together. Form dough into a ball then flatten to a disc. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 30 minutes until firm.
Makes enough dough for about two 9 inch pie crusts.
