Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Crust: 2 cups all purpose flour 1 cup sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 cup plus 2 tbsp. cold butter, diced
Filling: 1 cup butter 1 cup brown sugar 1/3 cup light corn syrup
Glaze: 6 ounce package semisweet chocolate chips 2 tbsp. butter
Directions
For Crust: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line the inside of a 13x9 inch baking pan with foil. Stir together the flour, sugar and salt in a medium bowl. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs form. Press the crust mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake 18 to 20 minutes until edges are browned. Transfer pan to a rack and cool crust completely.
For Filling: Combine butter, brown sugar and corn syrup in a medium saucepan. Cook 5 to 8 minutes over medium heat, stirring frequently, until mixture comes to a boil. Boil 2 minutes without stirring. Immediately pour the filling over the prepared crust. Spread filling evenly. Transfer pan to a rack and cool filling completely.
Place the chocolate chips in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Melt and stir until smooth. Add butter and stir until smooth. Pour the glaze over the cooled filling and spread evenly. Refrigerate 10 to 15 minutes until glaze starts to set. Transfer pan to a rack and cool completely. Cut into bars.
Makes about 3 dozen bars.
