Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
3/4 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup all purpose flour 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup old fashioned oats 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 cup cold diced butter 2 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced 1/4 cup orange juice 1 tbsp. dark rum 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1/4 cup chopped pecans
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Butter an 8x8 inch square baking pan. Combine brown sugar, flour, sugar, oats and cinnamon in a large bowl. Cut in butter until a coarse meal forms. Place apples in a separate bowl and sprinkle with 1/2 cup oat mixture. Toss to blend. Transfer apples to the prepared pan. Stir together orange juice, rum and vanilla in a small bowl. Pour over apples. Sprinkle remaining oat mixture evenly over apples. Sprinkle with pecans. Bake about 40 minutes until apples are bubbly and topping is crisp and browned. Serve warm.
Serves 6.
