Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 cups 2% milk 3 cinnamon sticks 20 whole cloves 5 ounces chopped, good-quality milk chocolate 2 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped 3 cups fresh brewed strong coffee 3 tbsp. brown sugar 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 cup heavy or whipping cream pinch ground nutmeg
Directions
Combine milk, cinnamon sticks and cloves in a medium saucepan. Heat to a simmer. Remove pan from heat and add milk and semisweet or bittersweet chocolates. Whisk until melted. Cover pan and let stand 15 minutes. Return milk mixture to a simmer. Add coffee, 2 tbsp. sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla. Simmer, stirring, 5 minutes-don't boil. Beat cream with nutmeg, 1 tbsp. sugar and 1/2 tsp. vanilla to soft peaks. Strain milk mixture and divide among 6 mugs. Top with dollops of whipped cream.
Serves 6.
