Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Cake: 2 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 4 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder 1 cup sugar 1 cup water 1 cup prepared mayonnaise 2 tsp. vanilla extract
Frosting: 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1/4 cup milk 1/8 cup butter 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions
For Cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and cocoa powder in a medium bowl. Stir in sugar. lend together water, mayonnaise and vanilla in a large bowl. Gradually add cocoa mixture and beat until just blended. Transfer batter to the prepared pan. Bake about 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs attached.
For Frosting: Combine sugar, cocoa powder, milk and butter in a small saucepan. Heat mixture to a boil. Boil 1 minute. Stir in vanilla with a wooden spoon. Continue stirring for 20 strokes. Immediately pour frosting over the top of the hot cake. Let cake stand 1 to 2 hours until frosting is cooled and set.
Serves 12 to 15.
