Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
4 large baking potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 2 medium cloves garlic, peeled and minced 2 tbsp. crumbled dried marjoram 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese 2 cups heavy or whipping cream 1/2 cup water
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 6 cup casserole dish. Layer a fifth of the potato slices in the bottom of the prepared dish. Sprinkle with 1/4 each of salt, pepper, nutmeg, garlic, marjoram and parmesan. Repeat the layering 3 more times. Stir together cream and water and pour over potatoes. Cover the dish tightly with foil. Bake 90 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 30 minutes until top is lightly browned. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before slicing.
Serves 6 to 8.
