Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
½ c. warm water 2 pkgs. Rapid rise dry yeast 1 ½ c. lukewarm milk ½ c. sugar plus 2 T. OR 2/3 c. sugar 2 t. salt 1 egg ½ c. soft shortening 7 to 7 ½ c. flour (doesn’t take 7 ½ )
Directions
Measure water and yeast into a large bowl and stir to dissolve. Stir in remaining ingredients. (Use electric mixer—don’t put too much flour in at first—beat for a while). Knead as you add the rest of the flour. Let rise until double, then work down and let rise again. (Just push back down.) Roll dough to 1/8 to ¼ inches thick. Cut into 5 or 6 inch squares. Bake in 325 degrees to 350 degrees oven.
