Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk 1/2 cup lemon juice 1 Tsp. grated lemon peel or 1/4 Tsp. lemon extract 2 large eggs, separated 1 (8 or 9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust or baked pie crust 1/4 Tsp. cream of tartar 4 Tbsp. sugar
Directions
Heat oven to 325 degrees. Stir together condensed milk, lemon juice, peel or extract, and 2 egg yolks until thickened. Pour into chilled crust. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar to soft peaks. Beat in sugar 1 Tbsp. at a time. Beat to stiff glossy peaks. Spread over filled pie making sure to go all the way out to edges. Bake 12 to 15 minutes until meringue is lightly browned. Cool. Store covered in refrigerator.
Makes 1 pie.
