Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Jerk Sauce: 1 1/2 cups chopped green onions 1 tsp. dried thyme 2 medium jalapeno peppers, stemmed, seeded and chopped 1 clove garlic, peeled and chopped 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup soy sauce 1 tsp. ground allspice
Burgers: 2 pounds ground beef 6 hamburger buns, split and toasted thinly sliced onion sliced tomato romaine lettuce leaves
Directions
For the Sauce: Combine the green onions, thyme, jalapenos and garlic in a food processor and pulse until finely chopped. Add the sugar, oil, soy sauce and allspice and process until almost smooth.
For the Burgers: Shape the beef into 6 patties. Place the beef patties in a 13x9 inch baking dish. Pour 1/2 cup of the sauce over the patties and turn to coat. Let the patties marinate 20 minutes. Heat a grill or large skillet over medium high heat. Remove the beef patties from the marinade and grill or fry to desired doneness, brushing occasionally with the remaining sauce. Place 1 burger on each bun and top with onion slices, tomato and romaine. Serve the burgers immediately.
Makes 6 burgers.
