Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Indian Fry Bread: 2 1/2 pounds self-rising flour 2 cups plus additional milk 4 cups vegetable oil
Filling: 2 pounds ground beef 6 rounds Indian fry bread from above recipe 8 ounces grated sharp cheddar cheese 4 cups shredded lettuce 3 medium tomatoes, diced 1 can diced green chiles, drained 1 cup chopped red onion prepared salsa
Directions
For Flatbread: Stir together flour and milk in a large bowl to form a wet dough, adding additional milk if necessary. Pat out dough thinly with oiled hands on a floured surface. Cut into rounds. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350 degrees. Fry dough rounds until golden brown.
For Filling: Brown ground beef in a skillet until cooked through. Drain well. Top fried bread rounds with beef, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, chiles and onions. Serve hot with salsa.
Serves 6.
