Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 pound ground beef 1 1/2 cups chopped onion 1 cup chopped green bell pepper 1 1/2 tsp. minced garlic 1 tbsp. chili powder 2 tsp. ground cumin 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper pinch ground cinnamon 3 cups chicken broth 14 ounces canned chopped tomatoes with juice 12 premade tamales, about 3 ounces each 15 ounces canned pinto beans, rinsed and drained 1 cup frozen corn 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper
Directions
Brown beef with onion, bell pepper and garlic, breaking up meat. Add chili powder, cumin, cayenne and cinnamon. Cook 1 minute. Add broth and tomatoes with their juices. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Heat tamales through according to directions. Stir beans and corn into soup. Simmer 3 minutes. Stir in salt and pepper. Place 2 tamales in the bottom of a soup bowl and ladle soup over. Garnish with shredded cheese if desired.
Serves 6.
