Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1/2 cup prepared white horseradish, drained 1/3 cup olive oil 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1 1/2 tsp. Tabasco sauce 8 cups water 12 ounce bottle dark beer 12 small dried chilies 8 medium cloves garlic, peeled and crushed 1 tbsp. yellow mustard seed 4 bay leaves 2 pounds raw, medium shrimp, peeled 1 large lemon, thinly sliced 1 tbsp. salt
Directions
Whisk together horseradish, olive oil, Worcestershire and Tabasco in a small bowl. Cover and let stand at room temperature while preparing shrimp.
Combine water, beer, dried chilies, garlic, mustard seeds and bay leaves in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium and simmer 10 minutes. Add shrimp, lemon slices and salt to the beer mixture. Simmer shrimp about 3 minutes until just cooked through. Strain shrimp and transfer to a large bowl along with solids. Stir in the horseradish mixture. Let stand 30 minutes before serving.
Serves 6 to 8.
