Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
3 1/2 pounds boneless country style pork spareribs 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 3 tbsp. vegetable oil 1 tbsp. minced garlic 4 green onions, chopped 2 tbsp. peeled, minced fresh ginger 14 ounces chicken broth 1/3 cup soy sauce 1 tbsp. brown sugar 1/4 tsp. dry red pepper flakes 1/4 tsp. chinese 5 spice powder 1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch
Directions
Season pork with salt and pepper. Heat oil in large pot and brown pork on all sides. Reserve pork. Add garlic, green onions and ginger to pot and cook 1 minute. Return pork to pot. Add 1 1/2 cups broth, soy sauce, sugar, red pepper flakes and 5 spice powder. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer until pork is very tender, about 60 to 75 minutes. Stir together 1/4 cup broth and cornstarch to dissolve. Stir into pork and simmer until gravy is thickened, stirring occasionally, about 3 minutes.
Serves 6 to 8.
