Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 1/2 cups sugar 1 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup water 2/3 cup dark corn syrup 1 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. margarine 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vanilla extract 6 quarts popped popcorn
Directions
Line 2 sheet pans with wax paper. Combine both sugars, water, corn syrup and salt in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Continue boiling until mixture reaches 300 degrees on a candy thermometer, stirring frequently. Remove pan from the heat and stir in margarine, baking soda and vanilla. Place popcorn in a large bowl and pour the caramel mixture evenly over. Stir until popcorn is evenly coated. Spread popcorn out on the prepared pans and cool completely. Break cooled popcorn into pieces.
Makes 6 quarts popcorn.
