| Recipe Rating: N/A Printer Friendly | Recipe submitted by chefdude7263
Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Brownies: 4 ounces chopped German sweet chocolate 1/2 cup butter, room temperature 2/3 cup sugar 2 large eggs 1 tsp. vanilla extract 3/4 cup all purpose flour
Frosting: 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk 1/4 cup butter 2 large egg yolks 1 cup sweetened flaked coconut 1/2 cup chopped pecans 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions
For Brownies: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line the inside of an 8x8 inch baking pan with foil, leaving a 2 inch overhang on each end. Lightly grease foil. Place chocolate in a small saucepan and melt over low heat, stirring until smooth. Beat together butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add melted chocolate and vanilla. Stir in flour until just blended. Spread the batter in the prepared pan. Bake brownies 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Transfer pan to a rack and cool completely.
For Frosting: Combine condensed milk, butter and yolks in a medium saucepan. Heat to a simmer over medium low heat. Cook, stirring, 4 minutes until thickened. Stir in coconut, pecans and vanilla. Remove pan from the heat and let stand 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick enough to spread. Spread frosting evenly over cooled brownies. Refrigerate brownies about 30 minutes until frosting is set.
Remove brownies from pan using foil overhang as an aid. Discard foil and cut brownies into bars.
Makes about 12 brownies.
