Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2/3 cup chopped, toasted pecans 2 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. ground ginger 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/2 cup butter, room temperature 3/4 cup sugar 2 large eggs 1/4 cup sour cream 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 large fresh pear, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped 2 tsp. finely grated lemon peel
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Sift together flour, and baking soda. Stir in ginger and nutmeg. Beat together butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time. Beat in the sour cream and vanilla. Add flour mixture and blend well on low speed. Stir in pear, pecans and lemon peel. Scrape into prepared pan. Bake about 60 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Turn out onto a rack and cool completely. Store wrapped in tinfoil at room temperature.
Makes 1 loaf.
