Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
Soy-Ginger Sauce: 1 tbsp. peeled fresh ginger, minced 1 tbsp. vegetable oil 3 tbsp. all purpose flour 2 cups chicken broth 1/4 cup soy sauce
Steak: 1/4 cup minced garlic 1/4 cup grated fresh ginger 1 tbsp. Chinese five-spice powder 1 tbsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 12 New York strip or strip loin steaks 3/4 cup sliced green onion
Directions
For Sauce: Heat oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add ginger and cook 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in flour. Gradually whisk in broth and soy sauce. Cook, whisking constantly, until sauce is thickened. Strain sauce and keep warm.
For Steak: Stir together garlic, ginger, five-spice powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Season both sides of each steak with 1 tsp. spice mixture. Place steaks in a large pan. Cover and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours.
Grill steaks to desired doneness. Serve each steak with 1 ounce sauce and 1 tbsp. green onions.
Serves 12.
