Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 cup solid vegetable shortening 1 cup brown sugar 1 large egg yolk 1 cup chopped black or regular walnuts
Directions
Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Lightly grease a 9x9 inch baking pan. Sift together the flour and cinnamon in a small bowl. In a large bowl, cream together the shortening with brown sugar. Beat in the egg yolk. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Fold in the walnuts. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake 55 to 60 minutes until bars are firm. Transfer pan to a rack and cool completely.
Makes about 2 dozen bars.
