Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/4 cups dark brown sugar 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled 1 large egg 1 cup buttermilk 1 cup chopped walnuts ice cream
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour an 8 inch square baking pan. Stir together flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl. Whisk together sugar, butter and egg in a large bowl until smooth. Whisk in flour mixture alternately with buttermilk in 2 additions. Fold in walnuts. Scrape batter into the prepared pan. Bake about 1 hour until a toothpick comes out clean. Transfer pan to a rack and cool for a few minutes. Cut cake into squares and serve warm with ice cream if desired.
Serves 8.
