Ingredients (view qty in metric system instead)
1 cup soy sauce 3/4 cup sake or dry white wine 3/4 cup chicken broth 1/4 cup sugar 1 1/2 tbsp. peeled, minced fresh ginger 4 large cloves garlic, peeled and minced 4 to 4 1/2 pounds chicken pieces
Directions
Combine soy sauce, sake or wine, broth, sugar, ginger and garlic in a large pot. Cook, stirring, over low heat until sugar dissolves. Add chicken to pot. Cover and simmer 50 minutes, turning chicken occasionally, until cooked through. Transfer chicken to a platter and cover with foil. Increase heat and boil sauce until reduced to 1 1/2 cups, about 15 minutes. Spoon sauce over chicken and serve.
Serves 6 to 8.
